Collaboration as a Competitive Advantage
Corporations across all industry sectors are increasingly reliant to suppliers as strategic partners in the
supply chain process. With their strategic drivers being to reduce supply chain management cost and
increase performance, their strategic actions to manage suppliers must be to:
(1.) utilize fewer resources and suppliers, while maintaining and improving service levels to the end user
customer; and
(2.) improve supply assurances, increase customer satisfaction and increase flexibility through exception
management and process compliance. Key to achieving these objectives is supply chain visibility and
collaboration with suppliers.

Strategic Supplier Development
In the strategic sourcing of supply chain management, a supplier's value is integrally linked to its value to
the whole supply chain. Corporations are less interested in the "who" a supplier is than the "what" a
supplier is. Can they take cost out of production and/or add value to it? Can they measure what they
manage? Can I see it? Where collaboration supports the communications of performance results,
development as a "strategic supplier" in today's and tomorrow's rapidly changing supply chain..
